Guyanese Gospel artiste, Samuel Medas has won a second regional award in just over a month. Samuel was last Saturday night announced the Caribbean Artiste of the year at the Sterling Gospel Music Awards in Jamaica.
Samuel was not present at the award show because of a prior engagement and told The Scene in an interview that he was surprised as while it was already incredible to win a regional award, it was even bigger and unlikely to foresee it happening a second time.
He said he was humbled and thrilled and it was only because of God that any of this was possible.
“I didn’t see it coming. Again, I was going up against big names like Positive and Sherwin Gardener and even Saiku who is from Guyana,” the elated singer said.
He acknowledged all those who would have stuck it out with him including his engineer Vijay Deolall, from Paradigm Audio Lab, his background singers and band, The Kingsmen, his wife and most importantly the Father above.
Samuel, who was scheduled to perform this evening at the Pass It On Benefit Concert at D’Urban Backlands will instead be performing at another concert in Trinidad. He is set to perform at the Linden Town Week Gospel Show on April 21.
Just last month Samuel was awarded Best Regional Artiste of 2018 at the Gospel Music Awards of Trinidad and Tobago.
