Puerto Rico, led by Brian Afanador and the Dominican Republic led by Emile Santos are favoured to reach the final of the men’s division of the 2019 Pan Am Games table tennis qualifiers, following play yesterday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).
Both team played unbeaten and are through to today’s semi-finals.
The Dominican Republic women’s team with reigning Caribbean women’s singles champion Yasiris Ortiz and former champion Eva Brito are favoured to win the round robin women’s team event.
Only one team will qualify for the PanAm Games to be held later this year.
The Guyana men’s team yesterday lost to Puerto Rico 3-0 but defeated St Vincent and the Grenadines 3-0 while the women defeated St Kitts/Nevis and Barbados by 3-0 margins.
