The Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) recorded comprehensive wins at the weekend in the latest round of the Georgetown Cricket Club (GAC), Noble House Seafoods second-division two-day cricket competition.
DCC at home defeated Third Class by 10 wickets. DCC batting first, piled on a mammoth 354 for seven declared with Xafie Smith missing out on a ton after he fell for 95.
There were also handy contributions from Jamoil Dillon (68), skipper Sachin Singh (66) and Nkosi Beaton (35).
Alvin Castillo (2-56) and Ray Brian (2-74) led Third Class’ bowling effort who were dismissed for 200 in their first innings response with Keon Singh (38) top scoring.
Beaton (4-27) and Daniel Mootoo (2-37) did the bulk of the damage for the host who enforced the follow on and once again dismissed their counterparts for 169 in their second innings with Castello playing a fine knock of 7.
Mootoo (4-24) and Beaton (2-32) once again led the rout. The hosts then reached 16-0 to complete the win.
Over at Camp Ayanganna, the host defeated Ace Warriors by 238 runs. GDF batting first piled on 300-5 before declaring their innings closed. Leon Andrews (100) and Damian Waldron (109) chalked up centuries to highlight the huge first inning total.
Ace Warriors in response, wanted little to do with Andrew’s off-spin as he grabbed (4-37) and they were dismissed for 113.
GDF with a lead of 187, raced to 225-8 before declaring for an overall lead of 412. Andrews was once again in the runs with a knock of 63 while Dameon Ross stroked an even fifty.
Davendra Lall (3-57) and Raul Enmore (3-75) shared six wickets between them for Ace Warriors who were dismissed for 174 pursuing a target of 412 with Enmore returning to stroke 91 to end with a decent match performance.
Andrews (5-85) and Waldron (3-39) completed the win.
