All the competing teams were assigned into Leagues A, B, and C following their performances in the recently concluded Nations League qualifiers.
Each league will feature promotion and relegation. The countries will compete in a home-and-away round-robin format during the duration of the group campaign.
The four group winners from League A will qualify to the Nations League final championship slated for March 2020, which will determine the champion of the competition.
The last-placed League A nations in each group will be relegated to League B for the next edition of the tournament.
Identically, the four group winners from League B will be promoted to League A, while the cellar occupants of each group will be relegated to League C for the next edition.
The same formalities will apply to League C. The four group winners will be promoted to League B, but the bottom four group finishers will remain in the same League.
