He is used to lifting heavy weights in and out the gym, but powerlifting standout, Carlos Petterson-Griffith, was recently himself on the receiving end of a major lift. The record-breaking strong man and crane operator, whose hobby is surely lifting heavy things off the ground, was recently presented with a cheque from his employer, Guyana Shore Base Inc.
Petterson-Griffith will use the money to help offset expenses for his next international championship in Sweden: The World Classic Powerlifting Championships slated for June 3-15.
The 93 kilos behemoth was thankful for the support and promised to continue flying the flag high when he steps onto the platform once again. General Manager of Guyana Shore Base Inc, Mark Edwards, said that he was happy to support the record-breaking gladiator and mentioned that Petterson-Griffith’s work ethic is exceptional in and out the gym.
The local force of nature earned his spot at the prestigious championship after a phenomenal outing last year in Mexico at the 16th Annual IPF/NAPF North American Regional Powerlifting Championship.
Petterson-Griffith recorded a total of 800 kg – Squatting 315 kg; Bench Pressing 155 kg and Dead lifting 330 kg. Consequently, he earned the best lifter award.
