Outgoing Mexican Ambassador to Guyana Ivan Roberto Sierra Medel yesterday paid a farewell courtesy call on Vice-President and Minister of Foreign Affairs Carl Greenidge.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said during his tenure, Ambassador Medel advanced the export of Guyanese rice to Mexico and he noted that its demand there had since substantially increased.
In a brief statement, the ministry reported him as expressing his gratitude to the Guyanese government for its support during his service. It said he also highlighted the high level of cooperation between the two states, especially in the area of agriculture.
Meanwhile, Greenidge lauded Ambassador Medel’s dedication to enhancing relations between Guyana and Mexico.
According to the ministry, since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries on March 1st, 1973, they have collaborated in a number of areas, including oil and gas, language development, technical training, and preservation and sustainable management of protected areas.
