A packed sports programme is planned around Bartica Easter Regatta 2019.
During the formal launch of the event on Thursday at the Pegasus Hotel, Sports Coordinator, Michael DeSantos disclosed that numerous disciplines will be contested during the Regatta slated for April 14-22.
“This year’s Regatta would be the best that we have had over the years” said DeSantos in the Essequibo Room.
He added that “We have a packed programme and the athletes and rearing and ready to go.”
In the presence of the Town’s Mayor, Gifford Marshall, Director of Sports, Christopher Jones, sponsors and the pageant delegates, DeSantos revealed that Dirt Bike Racing, River Swimming and Bird Whistling will be contested. He added that Volleyball, Dominoes, Cricket and Futsal will also have keen competition.
Meanwhile, nine delegates will be vying for the crown of Miss Bartica Regatta 2019. The Queen will pocket $500,000 along with a scholarship to University of Guyana.
