Plaisance Guardians defeated Eagles 79-63 to secure the second division title when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association [GABA]/’Lets Bet Sports’ championships continued on Wednesday at the Burnham Court, Middle and Carmichael Streets.
Terrence Daniels led the East Coast Demerara side with 33 points with Delroy Critchlow the next best scorer with 15 points.
Chipping in with 10 and nine points each were Jared Sears and Nigel Bowen respectively. For the losers, Shemar Huntley tallied 22 points while Sherland Gillis and Devon Murray added 13 and 12 points respectively.
Guardians got off to the perfect start as the first period ended 22-18.
However, Eagles secured the lead heading into the halftime interval, outscoring Guardians 16-11 as the second quarter ended 34-33.
Nevertheless, a second half offensive blitz would ensure Guardians walked away with the title.
This began in the third period as Guardians tallied 25 points while reducing Eagles to 18 points to lead 58-52.
The victory was then sealed in the fourth quarter as Guardians amassed 21 points compared to the paltry 11 points of Eagles.
Meanwhile Plaisance Guardians defeated Pepsi Sonics 67-62 in the semi-final round of the first division.
Guardians will now face-off with Kobras in the grand finale today at the same venue.
