Dear Editor,
Oil is expected to start flowing in 2020 with oil revenues contributing significantly to Guyana’s Treasury after 2020.
I suggest, instead of developing infrastructure, that the government of the day look into lowering taxation by reducing commercial and personal income taxes.
Guyanese were once burdened with heavy taxation of 33.33 per cent. I suggest that both commercial and personal income taxes be lowered to 20 per cent as this would incentivise businesses to create jobs and encourage Guyanese to work harder as they would be taxed less.
Yours faithfully,
Sean Ori
