The Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) registered a comfortable six-wicket win over Transport Sports Club (TSC) in the first semi-final of the Noble House Seafoods U19 Generation Next Cricket Competition at the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) yesterday.
GCC, after winning the toss, inserted TSC who were dismissed for 168 in 31.2 overs.
Alvin Mohabir top-scored with a knock four short of 50. His inning included five fours and a maximum and he got support from Jamal Michael (27), Devon Allen (22) and Riyad Latif (23).
Darrius Andrews (3-23) and Aryan Persaud (2-26) spearheaded GCC’s bowling effort before they coasted to 169-4 inside 32 overs in reply to register a place in the final. The successful run chase was built around an even 50 from West Indies under – 16 batsman Mavendra Dindyal who struck six fours and a maximum. Thaddeus Lovell (24) Persaud (26*) and Rahul Singh (17*) were instrumental in the successful run chase as Mohabir grabbed 3-34 in a losing cause.
The Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and MSC will clash in the other semi-final today.
