Dear Editor,
Is there anyone in the PPP who will stand up to Bharrat Jagdeo and not let him pull the strings of the PPP Presidential Candidate Irfaan Ali? Guyana does not need a yes man (nor a puppet master pulling his strings) as President.
The problem with the PPP is that it uses a selection process to get its leaders which is a deeply flawed concept.
The People’s Progressive Party supporters need to rid themselves of Bharrat Jagdeo as he has had his time to govern Guyana which turned out to be economically sound but disastrous in other area (namely, politically and socially).
Economically, Bharrat Jagdeo boosted Guyana’s GDP but he left the majority of the people behind. Guyanese do not need same-same.
What Guyanese do need is sound economic policies to develop Guyana lifting thousands of people out of poverty. That has not yet happened.
How can decent PPP supporters make an honest assessment of Irfaan Ali as Presidential Candidate when we do not know what he stands for and when he will be “guided” by Bharrat Jagdeo rather than listen to the people?
My advice to Irfaan Ali is to rescind your Candidacy for the Presidency of Guyana for which the majority of Guyanese will respect you for. And, my advice to the rest of the PPP Leadership is to stop listening to Bharrat Jagdeo and doing what he wants. Put him out of the PPP. After all, being in Government is not just about winning elections. It is also about how you govern.
Yours faithfully,
Sean Ori
