Hosts Guyana emerged runners up at the conclusion of the 61st Caribbean Regional Table Tennis Federation (CRTTF) senior championships which ended at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH) last evening with Shemar Britton and Treance Lowe each copping bronze medals.
Guyana brought the curtains down on the championships with a total of 750 points behind eventual champions the Dominican Republic (1530) and ahead of third place Barbados (640).
The final day, however, saw Britton following up his Under – 21 silver medal with bronze in the men’s singles after he was stopped in the semi-finals by Hector Berrios of Puerto Rico 8-11, 11-8, 7-11, 10-12.
Berrios was eventually defeated by Emile Santos in the final 11-9, 11-6, 11-8, 12-10.
Lowe also exited the championships at the
semi-final stage after she went down to Esmerlyn Castro of the Dominica Republic 9-11, 6-11, 6-11, 7-11. Castro, in the end, went down to Cuban Carrazan Fonseca for the second final running losing 3-4 following her defeat to her in the women’s Under – 21 duel.
Guyana tallied ten medals, three silver and seven bronze.
