Tournament favourites Water Pant suffered their first loss in the Banks DIH Limited Inter-Department tapeball cricket championships, losing by 21 runs to traditional giants Soft Drink Plant on Monday.
Set a total of 90 at the Thirst Park ground, Water Plant could only muster 68/8 from their allotted 10 overs. Captain A. Carew top scored with 15 runs, while extras proving the highest scorer with 16 runs.
It was a brilliant bowling effort from Soft Drink Plant led by J. Martin, A. Norville and S. Parmanand, who took two wickets each.
Martin recorded figures of 2-11 with A. Norville tallying 2-12 and S. Parmanand registering 2-19 in respective two over spells.
Prior to the eventual outcome, Soft Drink Plant had battled to 89/5.
S. Parmanand once again proved his worth with a composed 32 not out. The next best scorer with 10 runs was Martin, with extras adding an invaluable 25 runs.
For the bowlers, A. Bolo captured 2-13 from two overs while C. Bagot supported with 2-23. The event continues tomorrow at the same venue with a doubleheader.
At 18:00hrs, Vehicle Workshop will oppose Stores, while the second match will pit Brewery against Soft Drink Plant from 20:00hrs.
