Guyana national football club champions Fruta Conquerors are scheduled to depart local shores today for Curacao to compete in the 2019 CONCACAF Caribbean Club Shield Championship.
The Tucville based outfit, will feature in group-A alongside Jong Holland [Curacao], Scholars International Sports Club [Cayman Islands] and Santiago de Cuba [Cuba].
Fruta Conquerors will open their campaign on Friday against Scholars International Sports Club, before battling Jong Holland two day later. They will conclude the group stage on April 7th against Santiago de Cuba.
After round-robin play, the top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals. The quarter-final winners will automatically qualify to the semi-finals. The finale will then occur on Monday, April 15th 2019.
The winner of the 2019 CONCACAF Caribbean Shield, provided that said team fulfils the CONCACAF Regional Club Licensing criteria, will have the opportunity to face the fourth-place finisher of the 2019 Flow CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship in a playoff match to determine the fourth Caribbean representative in the 2019 Scotiabank CONCACAF League.
