(Trinidad Guardian) Venezuelan national Alexander Cedeno Roroba was gunned down at De Verteuil Street in Port-of-Spain yesterday morning.
Police said around 9.45 am, the man was accosted and shot several times as he was walking along the pavement near the El Pecos restaurant.
Police officers are still on the scene and the body is also yet to be removed.
Police believe Roroba may have been in the area to register with the United Nations officials as he was seeking asylum status. His name was found on a piece of paper on his person.
UN officials are also currently on the scene.
A motive is yet to be determined, but according to eyewitnesses, it was apparent that the victim was a direct targe.
