Edward Skeete, who was last year acquitted of a murder charge, was yesterday remanded to prison, after he was accused of shooting a man before robbing him of almost $1 million in cash.
Skeete, 32, called ‘Pretty Boy’, pleaded not guilty to the charge, which was read by Magistrate Dylon Bess at the George-town Magistrates’ Court.
The charge alleged that Skeete, on March 31, at Lombard Street, while in the company of others and being armed with a gun, robbed Zain Federson of $900,000.
According to Prosecutor Vivien Adolph, around 3.30 pm on the day in question, Federson was sitting in a Route 42 minibus, when he was attacked by Skeete and another man. Federson was shot once in the leg by Skeete, before the duo relieved him of the money.
After reporting the matter to the police, investigations were carried out and the accused was arrested. Skeete was then positively identified by Federson, via an identification parade.
Adolph, after telling the court the facts, then objected to bail being granted, citing the nature of the charge and the fact that Skeete currently has pending matters before the courts. She also mentioned that Federson is still hospitalised.
Skeete was subsequently remanded to prison and the matter adjourned until April 18, 2019.
Skeete was last year freed of the murder of Ryan Clementson, who was shot near the Turning Point Snackette in Tucville, in July 2015.
