A 21-year-old labourer was seriously injured on Sunday evening, after he was allegedly attacked and stabbed by his girlfriend’s uncle, during an argument at their Craig, East Bank Demerara home.
Injured is Denzil Brummell, a resident of Lot 12 Alliance Road, Timehri, East Bank Demerara.
Stabroek News understands that the incident took place around 11pm, when Brummell was stabbed about three times about his body, including to the region of his heart.
He was taken to the Diamond Hospital, and was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH), where he is currently a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
His condition is listed as critical.
Commander of ‘A’ Division, Marlon Chapman, confirmed that the suspect was arrested and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
Natasha Williams, the injured man’s mother, yesterday explained to Stabroek News that Brummell was at his girlfriend’s house in Craig when the incident unfolded.
Williams said whilst there, an argument ensued between Brummell and the suspect. The argument, she said, later escalated, and the suspect allegedly armed himself with a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Brummell.
