Decorated Guyana Jaguars skipper Leon Johnson and his countryman Christopher Barnwell were among the batsmen to churn out runs in the ongoing Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) National League two-day competition at the weekend in the Twin Island Republic.
The duo came up against each other in the fifth-round fixture with Johnson turning out for Central Sports while Barnwell wore the Alescon Comets’ outfit in a match that ended in a draw.
Comets took the first strike and posted 254 before being dismissed. Vikash Mohan (53) stroked a half-century while Ricky Jaipaul grabbed 4 for 78 to lead Central Sports’ bowling effort.
Central Sports, in their first innings response, piled on 402 for 8 declared as Kjorn Ottley (168) and Johnson (124) struck centuries to underline their side’s massive first innings total.
Comets in their second innings posted 196 for six before stumps on the final day, where Barnwell struck an even 50 to land among the runs. The competition continues this weekend.
