The Port Mourant Training Centre 1 (PMTC1) volleyball team and their female equals continued their joyride on the local volleyball circuit by capturing the male and female titles in the recently held ‘B’ division volleyball tournament at the Apprentice Training Centre in Berbice.
PMTC 1 took the eight-team tournament by working their way through the preliminary rounds to set up a final against Rollers whom they defeated 31-29 to edge their way to championship honours.
Levi Nedd Junior was named the tournament’s MVP.
Meanwhile, the ladies from Port Mourant were also victorious in the women’s division as they defeated Castrol Strikers females 30 – 21 to cop the winning trophy. Hannah Hicks of Port Mourant served her way to MVP honours.
Earlier, the national under-21 males played a two best in three warm-up-match against Rollers which ended 25 – 21, 25 – 11. The tournament was organised as part of the Guyana Volleyball Federation’s (GFV) fundraiser to accumulate proceeds to ensure Guyana’s participation in the upcoming Inter-Guiana volleyball tournament set to spike off in French Guiana from May 2-4.
