Yesterday’s round of matches in the ongoing Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) Under-20 and Second Division Developmental Leagues was relatively quiet barring the clash between GBTI GCC and GCC Bingo Spartans at the Saint Stanislaus College (SSC) ground.
The GBTI-sponsored side defeated their junior GCC female counterparts 5-3 in the women’s Second Division league on the back of four conversions from Princess Wilkie, whose goals separated the two teams who were tied at 3-3 at the half. Paige Fernandes had two goals for the junior GCC unit. Saints, on the other hand, defeated YMCA Old Fort Wild Cats 2-0 in the other women’s Second Division clash that saw Nia Williams and Clayza Bobb scoring for the winners.
Meanwhile, action in the men’s Second Division league saw Hilton Chester scoring a brace for SHC Savages, who defeated SHC Shockwaves 2-1. Hilmar Chester scored for the latter. Bounty GCC was also in the winner’s row, defeating YMCA Old Fort Rusty 2-0 where John Phang and Samuel Woodroofe penetrated the back of the net for GCC. Action in the boys under – 21 league saw GCC Pitbulls Edging SHC Storm 1-0 with Tariq Nelson’s 26-minute goal separating the two teams while Old Fort Ballers also won by a one-goal margin, defeating SHC Samurai on the back of Nandalall Persaud’s 31-minute strike past the upright.
