D’ Urban St miner remanded on ganjatrafficking charge

A miner was yesterday remanded to prison after he was accused of having almost 200 grammes of cannabis in his possession.

The charge against Gregory Nichols, 33, alleges that on April 13th, at D’ Urban Street, Georgetown, he had 182 grammes of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Nichols, 33, pleaded not guilty to the charge and his attorney, Damien DaSilva, in his application for bail told the court that the cannabis was found in a two-storey building which has at least five adult occupants.

According to Prosecutor Dinero Jones, ranks conducted a search on Nichols’ premises, where the narcotic was found in a plastic bag near the toilet. Jones added that while in the custody of police, Nichols admitted to the offence. Nichols was subsequently remanded to prison by acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus and the matter was adjourned until April 26th, 2019.
