Leg – spinner Akeem Clarke and batsman Devon Allen orchestrated a commanding 157-run win for the Transport Sports Club (TSC) over the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) while Sachin Singh and Alphius Bookie struck unbeaten half-centuries for the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) who defeated Bel Air Rubis by nine wickets in second round action of the GCA/American Youth Premier Cricket League Under-19 Cricket Competition.

TSC, at Bourda, won the toss and elected to bat after which they posted 220-7 from their allotted 44 overs. Devon Allen was the mainstay of the innings, hammering four fours and the same amount of maximums in a fine knock of 85 while national under – 19 batsman Adrian Hinds (31) supported.    The in-form Aryan Persaud (2-31) along with Yohance Angoy (2-44) and Darius Andrews 2-40,  led GCC’s bowling effort. However, the hosts, in their reply, were routed for 63 inside 22 overs with Clarke bamboozling the batsmen to end with figures of 6-14 and carry his side over the line.

Meanwhile, over at DCC,  Bel Air Rubis won the toss and decided to bat. They only managed to post 148 before being dismissed in the 50thover as left-arm spinner Daniel Mootoo (2-29) and left-arm seamer Dequan Bamfield (2-34) got among the wickets.

Only Andrew Samaroo (32) scored more than 20.

DCC in response, raced to 150-1 inside 24 overs with Singh, who departs Guyana today for a West Indies Under – 19 development camp, lacing 10 fours in a superb unbeaten knock of 82 while his fellow national youth player Alphius Bookie struck four fours and two maximums in his innings of 51 not-out to headline the win.
