Annuals and bulbs are coming into bloom in a rainbow of colours. Now is the time to enjoy Marigolds, Zinnias, Petunias, Busy Lizzies, Lady Slippers, Salvias, Bachelor Buttons, Torenias and others. They will last for the next 3 to 6 months and will brighten up corners or beds in your gardens.
Easter is the time for bulbs and even though the weather is harsh on them, Easter Lilies, Amaryllis, Dahlias, Crocus, Gladiolus and others will adorn churches and homes. Easter Lilies and Peace Lilies are big sellers at this time of the year, particularly the former, which are a big hit around the world. They are native to Japan, but early travellers took them from one country to another. Bermuda and the USA are large growers of this flower, which tends to be sold as a potted plant.
Whatever plant you choose to buy for Easter make sure you give them a good drink of water and remember that bulbs and tubers, after they have finished blooming, have a rest period.
Have a Happy and Blessed Easter.
Until next week, Happy Gardening.
