A gold miner of Central Baramita, North West District, is currently battling for his life in the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was attacked by two men.
The injured man, Oris Moonsammy, 27, suffered a deep laceration from the side of his neck to his spinal cord leaving him an unconscious state.
Police enquiries revealed that Moonsammy was involved in a fight with two men from the village on Saturday at around noon.
The details surrounding the attack are sketchy police said, while explaining that it stemmed from a misunderstanding between the men. During the confrontation, Moonsammy was attacked and sustained the gaping wound.
He was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the Baramita Community Health Centre but was air-dashed to the city public hospital for advanced medical attention.
The suspects were arrested and are currently assisting police with investigations.
