The man accused of stabbing Timehri labourer Denzil Brummell more than two weeks ago was charged with the crime but was subsequently freed after the victim refused to offer evidence against him.
Stabroek News was reliably informed that just days after the stabbing, the suspect was charged with attempted murder at the Providence Magistrate’s Court. However, the charge against him was dismissed after Brummell indicated to the court that he no longer wished to proceed with the prosecution.
The accused is said to be a relative of Brummell’s girlfriend.
