After telling a Georgetown court that he was helping a woman he was charged with robbing, a welder was yesterday remanded to prison.
It is alleged that Kess Brown, on April 19 at Camp Street, robbed Sabrina Doodnauth of a purse containing a driver’s licence, property of Courtney Forde, and $8,000, and at the time of, immediately before or immediately after, made use of personal violence.
Brown pleaded not guilty to the charge which was read to him by Magistrate Faith McGusty.
The prosecution, in objecting to bail, cited the nature of the crime, and the penalty it attracts. It was noted that on the day in question, after committing the crime, Brown ran away. The complainant raised an alarm and Brown was later apprehended. The prosecutor noted that the accused was also positively identified by the victim.
Brown, however, told the court that he was assisting the complainant after someone else robbed her.
He was remanded to prison and is set to return on May 15.
