MIAMI, United States, CMC – Jamaica’s Stadium East will play host to next month’s CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship, the confederation has announced.
Haitian sides AS Capoise and Real Hope FA will clash with Jamaican clubs Portmore United and Waterhouse FC from May 12-19 at the venue located in the capital Kingston, with the winner earning direction qualification for next year’s CONCACAF Champions League.
“The 2019 edition of our Concacaf Caribbean Club Championship will continue raising the competitive level of our Expanded Club Competitions Platform,” said CONCACAF General Secretary Philippe Moggio.
“Along with the Caribbean Shield and on-going club licensing efforts in the Caribbean, this competition provides fully professionalised leagues with clear pathways to the top levels of CONCACAF international tournaments.”
The runners-up and third place finishers will qualify for the 2019 CONCACAF League while the fourth-place team will take on Caribbean Club Shield champions, Suriname’s S.V. Robinhood, in a playoff match to determine the third club from the Caribbean in the CONCACAF League.
The tournament is the second major CONCACAF event set for the country, with the National Stadium also set to host two games in the CONCACAF Gold Cup in June.
