The police in ‘A’ Division are on the hunt for two suspects who allegedly shot and injured two men, including a passer-by, during a misunderstanding on Thursday at the corner of D’Urban Street and Mandela Avenue.
The injured men have been identified as Shaquille Dion, 24, of D’Urban Street, Lodge and Marlon Rodney, 35, a taxi driver of Norton Street.
Dion, the passer-by, was shot to his back, while Rodney was shot to his left leg during the incident, which took place around 9.45 am on Thursday.
They were both rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, from where Dion was discharged yesterday.
Rodney remained hospitalised up to last evening. His condition was, however, listed as stable.
The police in a press release yesterday said that stringent efforts are being made to apprehend the suspects, who were identified by the aliases “Dabo” and “Curl Up.”
The police said their investigations revealed that Rodney and “Dabo” had a misunderstanding, after which the former left. Shortly after, the police added, Rodney returned and he, “Dabo” and “Curl up” continued to argue.
“Both “Dabo and Curl Up” who were reportedly brandishing handguns, allegedly discharged their weapons at Rodney who was struck in the left leg,” the police said.
Dion, who was passing by in the vicinity at the time, was struck by a stray bullet.
