Bent Street were crowned the inaugural Stag Beer Easter Futsal champs after edging Gold is Money by a 6-5 score Tuesday at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.
Littered with national players, Bent Street recorded the hard-fought victory led by a double from Pernell Schultz in the fifth and 28th minute, while Sheldon Holder, Adrian Aaron, Daniel Wilson and Clive Nobrega added to the score in the 11th, 17th, 26th and 30th minute apiece.
For the losers Randolph Wagner tallied a helmet trick in the 14th, 21st, 31st and 33rd minute with Colin Nelson adding to score in the 16th minute.
With the win, Bent Street walked away with $700,000 and the championship trophy. On the other hand, Gold is Money pocketed $300,000 and the runner-up accolade.
Meanwhile, Sparta Boss defeated North East La Penitence 8-6. Jermaine Junior tallied a double in the 11th and 29th for the victors with Ryan Hackett adding a double in the 16th and 35th minute and Dennis Edwards scoring twice in the 15th and 38th minute.
Chipping in with goals in the 17th and 34th minute respectively were Devon Charles and Gregory Richardson. For the loser, Calvin Moore recorded a hat-trick in the sixth, 26th and 31st minute while sibling Kelvin Moore tallied a double in the 20th and 36th minute.
Scoring a goal in the 37th minute was Joel Yhan. Due to the outcome, Sparta Boss pocketed $200,000 and the corresponding accolade, with North East La Penitence collecting $100,000 and a trophy.
