On a night which featured two walkovers, Bent Street, Sparta Boss, Leopold Street and North East La Penitence advanced to the group stage of the fourth annual Corona Beer Futsal Championship on Saturday.
Staged at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue, Bent Street smashed GT Panthers 7-2. Pernel Schultz tallied a helmet trick in the first, 11th, 12th and 13th minute.
He was supported by an Adrian Aaron double in the 16th and 18th minute while Sheldon Profit scored in the ninth minute.
For GT Panthers, Vasco Cabral and Mark Anthony netted in the eighth and 14th minute each. Similarly, Sparta Boss dismissed Black Pearl 7-0.
Dennis Edwards fashioned a hat-trick in the 11th, 13th and 18th minute, with Jermin Junior adding a brace in the first and seventh minute.
Assisting with goals in the fifth and 14th minute were Kelsey Benjamin and Devon Charles respectively. Meanwhile, Leopold Street overcame Flamingo 6-5.
Okeene Fraser crafted a three-goal blitz in the eighth, 12th and 15th minute while Eon Alleyne added a double in the second and 16th minute. Chipping in with a fifth minute effort was Darren Benjamin.
For Flamingo, Andrew Murray Jr., registered a double in the third and 11th minute with Lennox Cort recording a brace in the sixth and 19th minute. Contributing a 11th minute strike was Moses Grittens.
Likewise, North East La Penitence defeated Northern Rangers 6-4. Kelvin Moore recorded a hat-trick in the second, fourth and 13th minute, with Keifer Brandt tallying a three goal haul in the sixth, 16th and 17th minute.
For the losers, Nigel Denny bagged a double in the 15th and 18th minute, with Tevin Fowler and Stephon Reynolds adding goals in the fifth and 19th minute each.
In other results, Tucville gained a walkover from Wolves in the tournament’s opening match while Back Circle also won by walkover from Camptown.
The competition continues tomorrow with the second night of elimination matches.
Winner of the event pockets $500,000 and the championship trophy, while the second, third and fourth place finishers will collect $250,000, $125,000 and $75,000 each and the respective trophy.
Similarly, $40,000 will be awarded to each group winner, while $30,000, $20,000 and $15,000 will be presented to the second, third and fourth place group finishers, respectively.
