The son of former Prime Minister, Samuel Hinds, was yesterday slapped with five charges, including assaulting a police officer.
Samuel Hinds Junior, 38, was brought before Magistrate Clive Nurse, who read the charges to him.
The first charge alleged that on May 9, at Main Street, he unlawfully assaulted Constable Canterbury.
On the said day, the accused also resisted arrest by Canterbury, who was acting in the execution of his duties.
Another charge stated that Hinds Junior behaved disorderly, while another charge stated that he drove motor vehicle PMM 4445, with the identification mark not visible.
Finally, it was alleged that the accused, having been required to take a breathalyser test from Constable Thom, resisted.
Hinds Junior, a miner of Agricola, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Nurse later granted the accused $10,000 bail on each offence, a total of $50,000 bail.
He is set to make his next court appearance on June 12.
The accused was represented by attorney Latchmie Rahamat, while the matter was prosecuted by police prosecutor Arvin Moore.
