Purple Heart Productions will tomorrow night put on the fourth edition of the show ‘A Treat For My Mother’ at the National Cultural Centre (NCC).
The NCC stage will come alive with fashion, drama and live performances by local artistes.
Prominent actress Simone Dowding is the producer of the show. And that is the only role she plays. “People always ask me why I’m not doing drama in the production when I’m an actress, and I would say that I do not want to mirror the former producer of the previous Mother’s Day Shows,” Simone said.
The addition of fashion gives mothers a further treat and allows another space for the showing of some of the finest and out-of-the-box designs from some of Guyana’s budding designers. Well-known designer, Nelsion Nurse will direct the fashion show.
Making a special appearance will be Canada-based Guyanese artiste Kenneth Oswald better known as ‘Small Man’, who rose to prominence fronting the Yoruba Singers and Mingles Sound Machine. He will be performing the song, “Only for One Night”.
Among the artistes slated to perform are Calvin Burnett, Colin Ambrose, Daria Barrow, Timothy Bourne, Delisha Wright, Sheron Cadogan, Mark Hall, Donald Wallerson and an extra special performance by seven-year-old Gabriella Trotman who will be singing “Listen”.
Yohance Kaoma will share his talent through dance.
Simone said the show will also have a musical variety of Oldies that would have been hits back in the 1960s and 70s. The songs will be played throughout the fashion display.
Tickets for A Treat For My Mother 4 cost $1,200 and $2,000. Tickets can be purchased at the NCC. The show begins at 8 pm.
