Number Five Monedderlust scored a 111-run victory over D’ Edward last weekend in the opening round of the West Berbice Cricket Association/ Anil Lalsa Construction two-day intermediate tournament.
Playing at home, No. 5 won the toss and elected to bat, posting 309-9 before declaring.
They then dismissed D’Edward for 116 and 82 after the follow on was enforced.
Former Berbice opener, Arthley Bailey was the backbone of No.5’s batting with a pulsating 154.
He stroked 19 boundaries, five of which cleared the ropes for six.
Bailey was supported by Carlton Nurse with an even half-century while Gladwin Johnson chipped in with 30.
Berbice youth player, Daniel Miline took 3-85 from 14 overs in support of H. Harilall who returned figures of 4-85.
D’Edward all-rounder, Abdool Subhan top scored in the first innings with 49 but found little support with only S. Jailall making 34.
Bailey took 6-20 from eight overs while Kenjil Sedoc accounted for the other four wickets.
In the second innings, Subhan received little support in top scoring with 37 as Bailey and Sedoc took five wickets each.
In the second round, day one saw Achievers winning the toss and batting first against No. 5.
Achievers posted 390 all out when the first day was closed as Kevin Sinclair fell one run short of a half century. Sinclair shared a 77-run stand with Shamal Angel but when he departed, Krishandat Ramoo took over blasting nine fours and four sixes in his 109.
He shared a partnership of 243 runs with Angel.
Angel, who represented Berbice in the Inter-County under-19 three-day tournament last week top scored with 137, with 14 fours and five sixes. Sedoc took 6-91 while Bailey took 3-113.
The final day will be played on Saturday.
