Timehri Panthers were crowned KFC Independence U20 Club Knockout Football Championship East Bank Demerara champion, defeating Soesdyke Falcons 4-1 yesterday at the National Training Centre, Providence.
Tyrone led the Panthers with a hat-trick in the sixth, 41st and 51st minute. Assisting with a goal in the 34th minute was Shawn Steele. For the loser, Cledwin Williams scored in the 90th+1 minute.
With the win, Timehri Panthers earned the right to represent the zone at the National Championship.
Over at the Golden Grove ground in the East Coast Demerara section, Dynamic FC edged Ann’s Grove 4-3 on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended scoreless. Also, Buxton Stars defeated Victoria Kings via walkover.
Meanwhile Den Amstel defeated Genesis 1-0, when the West Demerara Football Association [WDFA]/Trophy Stall u11 League continued yesterday at the Den Amstel Community Center ground.
Ruel Carroll was the difference between the teams, as he etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 29th minute. The tournament will resume today at the same venue with another match-up. Pouderoyen FC will lock horns with arch-rival Uitvlugt FC.
