Emerging force High Rollers was crowned the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Linden Champion, dismantling fellow first time finalist Amazings 6-1 on Saturday at the Mackenzie Market Tarmac.

It was the largest margin of victory ever recorded in the event’s history and the mammoth partisan crowd was treated to an exhibition in clinical finishing from the youthful outfit.

The 40-minute contest was effectively over at the halftime interval, as High Rollers pillaged four unanswered goals in the space of 15 minutes to capture the coveted championship.

It was a shocking performance especially on the defensive end from the Amazings outfit, who quickly fell behind as Jonah Simon kick-started the rout in the sixth minute.

Each goal was cheered by the large viewership, who were afforded many instances to display their allegiance. Jehu Regis quickly followed Simon, as he smashed one past the final defender in the eighth minute.

Anfernee Barrow then got into the scoring act, increasing the score via an 11th minute conversion. The period was capped off brilliantly, as Antoine Gill etched his name on the scorer’s sheet in the 15th minute.

Amazings, who looked out of their depth, eventually pulled one back in the 23rd minute through Kevin Dornick. The aforesaid strike ended the momentum of the High Rollers side, who seemed content in defending their sizable lead.

However, the scoreline was sealed in the 39th minute, as Captain Omar Brewley tallied a ‘Guinness Goal’ [GG] [a goal scored in the final three minutes of regulation and extra time counts as two].

For their brilliant showing, High Rollers pocketed $400,000 and the respective accolade. They also sealed an automatic berth in the National Championship, slated to be held in Georgetown during the month of August.

For the runners-up, they walked away with $150,000 and the corresponding trophy. Meanwhile, Capital Storm crushed Silver Bullets 4-1. Akeem Singh tallied a brace in the fourth and 24th minute, before recording a [GG] in the 30th minute.

For Silver Bullets, Jermaine Samuels netted in the first minute. With the result, Capital Storm walked away with $100,000, while Silver Bullets had to settle for $75,000.

The event continues in the month of June with the Bartica Championship. The other major sponsor of the event is Colours Boutique.
