A joint murder charge was yesterday instituted against the two men charged in connection with the murder of taxi driver Marlon Rodney.
Osafa Grundell, called ‘Curlup’ and James Fraser, called “Damo,” stood before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, as police prosecutor Neville Jeffers made an application to have their separate murder charges withdrawn and a joint charge instituted.
This request was made, according to the prosecutor, based upon advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Subsequent to the request being made, the Chief Magistrate
withdrew the separate charges and read the joint charge to the duo.
It is alleged that between April 25 and April 30, they murdered Marlon Deon Rodney, called ‘George’.
Both men were later remanded to prison and will make their next court appearance on May 30.
Rodney succumbed to injuries while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was a patient in the Intensive Care Unit.
Rodney was reportedly shot four times in his left leg and never regained consciousness after he underwent surgery.
