A familiar-looking Guyana Amazon Warriors side will this year have the services of locals, Anthony Bramble, Clinton Pestano and Chandrapaul Hemraj for the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) following yesterday’s draft in London.
Bramble, a solid wicket-keeper batsman had featured for the four-time finalists in the past when he appeared in the 2016 edition and subsequently captained the West Indies B in the Canada Global T20 League where they finished second.
Hem raj, who was snapped up in the 13th round, had played for the St. Lucia Stars last season while 27-year-old all-rounder, Pisano was bought for the first time in his career in the 16th round.
These players feature among newcomers, Brandon King of Jamaica, Australia’s Ben Laughlin, Shahab Khan and Marque player, Nicholas Poor an.
The Warriors look all too familiar with the likes of Chris Green, Shoji Malik, Keego Paul, Shimon Helmer, Sherfam Rutherford, Veerasammy Permaul and Romario Shepherd all returning.
Amazon Warriors had picked Raymon Reifer in the 14th round but Barbados Tridents used their right to confiscate the all-rounder.
Trinbago Knight Riders also looked to use their right to match card when Mark Dyal was selected by St. Lucia Stars in the 10th round.
Interestingly, Kaveem Hodge had set his base price at US$5000 but St. Lucia Stars were barred from picking him in the 15th round due to the round attracting a price of US$4000. Steven Jaccobs and Christopher Barnwell are the only two Guyanese playing out of their home country, They will appear for Jamaica Tallawahs and St. Lucia Stars respectively.
Most teams opted to continue with their local players from the Caribbean with Barbados Pride and Trinbago Knight Riders leading the pack.
The draft saw each team selecting only five overseas players, two developmental players, one ICC America player and nine local players.
The CPL will be played from August 21 to September 27.
