The National Assembly on Thursday approved more than $7 billion in supplementary funding for various state agencies including $700 million in additional funding for the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA).
According to Minister Annette Ferguson who now holds responsibility for Housing the sum is earmarked for the development of 4000 new house lots in Regions 1, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10.
“The allocations will specifically cater for land acquisition, surveys, designs, land clearing and accesses,” the House was informed.
Specifically the new housing areas will include Mabaruma where 275 lots will be available, Meten-Meer-Zorg where 1100 lots will be available and Vigilance where 1650 lots will be available. An additional 385 lots will be available in Annandale, 220 in Mon Repos, 83 in Foulis, 825 in Hope/Experiment, 138 in Ordnance/ Fortland, 550 in Lethem, 110 in Kwak-wani, 1100 in Amelia’s Ward, 275 in Recht-Door-Zee, 182 in Prospect phase two, 190 in Providence phase five and 370 in Cummings Lodge
Ferguson told the House that as soon as the sums are approved the agency will commence work in areas such as Recht-Door-Zee, Providence phase five and Cummings Lodge.
