AG heads Guyana team to CFATF conference

Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Basil Williams is leading Guyana’s delegation to the XLIX Plenary and Working Group Meetings of the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force being held in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

A release from the Attorney General’s Chambers said that the meeting, which opened yesterday, will discuss a range of issues.

In addition to Williams other members of the Guyana delegation are Tamika Barkoye – Ministry of Legal Affairs; Joanne Bond – AG Chambers; Rommel St. Hill – AG Chambers; Matthew Langevine, Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU);  Alicia Williams also of the FIU; Eondrene Thompson, General Manager, Guyana Gold Board;  Lloyd Moore – Chief Executive Officer of the Gaming Authority;  Perlina Gifth – Ministry of Social Protection;  Natasha Backer and  Teshana Lake  of the DPP’s Chambers; Shaun Allicock – Securities Council; Governor  Bank of Guyana, Dr Gobind Ganga and Kara Duff-Yehudah of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission.

The release said that Guyana recently hosted two Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) training and sensitisation workshops for attorneys-at-law and accountants/auditors.
