After more than a month of being in a critical condition, Ron Rodrigues, the miner who was brutally beaten and stabbed during the course of a robbery is currently in a stable condition at a city hospital after receiving blood donations.
The last Sunday Stabroek had reported an appeal by his father Victor Rodrigues for blood donors to come forward.
Ron Rodrigues, a 29-year-old miner was returning to his Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo, home on April 22nd when three armed robbers attacked him. He was beaten up and sustained multiple stab wounds after which he was left in an unconscious state on the road.
As a result of his injuries, a blood clot developed in Ron’s right leg which resulted in him being administered a blood thinner which led to internal bleeding.
According to his father, Ron was listed in critical condition for more than a month and was in a coma for 23 days but after being updated yesterday about his son’s condition, he related that Ron is currently in a stable condition. He said that while Ron is responding when he is spoken to by slight body movements, he is still unable to speak. He further related that Ron is still weak. Bood donors are currently on standby should Ron need more blood.
Ron is currently hospitalized at the Woodlands Hospital and is nursing a broken jaw, severe head injuries and multiple stab wounds.
