Two men were yesterday remanded to prison, after they were accused of murdering a miner whose body was discovered in a latrine at Tassawini Landing, North West District.
Leroy McIntyre, 31, and Rayon Roberts, 18, were read a charge which stated that between May 17 and May 22, at Tassawini, North West District, they murdered Darvin David.
Neither of the men was required to plead to the indictable charge read to them by Acting Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus.
Facts presented to the court by police prosecutor Shellon Daniels, stated that at about 20:00hrs on the day in question, the defendant and the deceased were drinking at a shop at Tassawini, when an argument developed.
During the argument, the defendants attempted to lash David, causing the owner of the shop to chase the defendants away. The prosecutor noted that the men left together but David never returned home. Checks were later made and the now deceased man’s body was discovered at the bottom of a latrine.
According to Daniels, a third suspect is being sought by the police in relation to this matter.
The two men were later remanded to prison and the matter adjourned until July 2, when it is expected to be heard at the Acquero Magistrate’s Court.
