Guyana Jaguars skipper Leon Johnson will lead an exciting bunch during this weekend’s four-team UDeCOTT T10 International Cricket Tournament in Trinidad and Tobago.
The Guyanese squad, which features the likes of West Indies duo Keemo Paul and Sherfane Rutherford also includes the inform and experience Christopher Barnwell and spin twin Veerasammy Permaul and Devendra Bishoo, according to the Trinidad Newsday.
The ten overs tournament, which runs from Friday to Sunday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba, is expected to see Guyana facing off against North Tobago, South Central, and the Windwards Islands.
North Tobago will have the services of Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, and Lendl Simmons while South Central will be led by West Indies Test player Denesh Ramdin along with Imran Khan and Jason Mohammed.
Windwards, on the other hand, will be spearheaded by discarded West Indies pair Andre Fletcher and Kesrick Williams.
The competition gets underway on Friday with Guyana taking on South Central from 18:00 hrs as they battle for the TT $75,000 first-prize.
The tournament is sponsored by the National (Trinidad) Lotteries Control Board, In-Electra Limited, First Citizens Bank and Southern Sales and Service – the latter of which will be donating TT $500 for every six hit up to a total of TT $30,000 to a charity of the players’ choice – as well as TT $1,000 to every fan who takes a one-handed catch in the stands.
