Muammar Jabbar, who was wanted by police in connection with the 2013 murder of Tolasicy Marshall, in Albouystown, was arrested in Berbice sometime between Wednesday and Thursday, the force’s Public Relations Officer Jairam Ramlakhan has confirmed.
Marshall, also known as ‘Talo,’ was fatally stabbed on the morning of August 20th, 2013 at James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown.
Ramlakhan said Jabbar has since been transferred to Georgetown for questioning.
On Thursday Stabroek News attempted to confirm the arrest with senior ranks in ‘B’ Division but they claimed that they were unaware of it.
Marshall, of Hogg Street, Albouystown, sustained two stab wounds in an attack and died at the Georgetown Hospital about half an hour later.
Stabroek News had been told then that he had paid his assailant to make jewellery for him but the man failed to deliver the goods.
Marshall later retrieved a gold chain from the man but indicated that the jeweller still owed him. He was walking through School Street, near the junction with James Street, when his assailant reportedly walked out of his yard and stabbed him.
Residents recalled seeing Marshall with blood gushing out of his chest, running down James Street before collapsing in front of a tree on Barr Street.
