Government Technical Institute [GTI], the Bishops’ High School and President’s College recorded wins in the boys U18 division when the Youth Basketball Guyana [YBG] ‘Regional Conference’ continued yesterday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall, Homestretch Avenue.
GTI dismantled Plaisance Secondary 50-26. Israel Yaw recorded an impressive double-double of 21 points and 25 rebounds for the Woolford Avenue institution.
He was brilliantly supported by a Darren Thomas double-double of 10 points and 14 rebounds while Josiah Roberts netted 13 points.
For Plaisance, Shamar Hercules battled to 16 points and eight rebounds. The next best scorer with five points and nine rebounds was Ishmael Chapman.
Bishops’ High, led by Royden James and Timonty Richmond, dismissed Tutorial High 57-40. James led the rout with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds while Richmond also recorded a double-double of 14 points and 14 rebounds.
For the losers, Jaden Moses scored 14 points while Aubrey Thompson scored five points.
In another fixture, President’s College downed St. Stanislaus College 34-29.
Gabriel Lyn bagged eight points and nine rebounds in the win, while Richard Semple added six points and seven rebounds and Jesse Thomas tallied six points and six rebounds.
For St Stanislaus, Omario Ganeshdin amassed eight points, 10 rebounds with Mustapha Kadir supporting with six points, nine rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile in the girls division, Queen’s College crushed St. Stanislaus College 21-8. Luanna Mohan recorded figures of 11 points, four steals and three rebounds.
She was assisted by Naomi Barkoye who tallied four points and 17 rebounds. For the losers, Madison Chichester netted four points and five steals.
Similarly, Marian Academy mauled Bladen Hall 23-6. Kelliann Sauers registered 10 points and five rebounds, with Anna Lall adding three points and four rebounds. Mya Grandison scored four points in the loss.
