President of the Lusignan Golf Club, Aleem Hussain was crowned champion of the A flight while Satrohan Tewari and Imtiaz Subhan won the B and C flights respectively and Shanella Webster-London the female title as the Macorp tournament ended Saturday.
Playing under gloomy conditions at the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC), the weather did not deter 48 of the country’s top golfers from taking to the green where they enjoyed the 14th edition of the tournament.
In the ‘A’ Flight which is for golfers with handicaps ranging from 0-9, Hussain, won with a 78 gross for a net of 69.
Avinash Persaud was second with a 74 gross (The best Gross score) and a 72 net while Patrick Persaud 81/72 rounded out the top three.
In the ‘B’ Flight, Tewari returned 82/66 to take the 10-18 handicap group as well as the best net. Lakeram Ramsundar and Patanjalie ‘Pur’ Persaud finished with scores of 82/68 and 87/71 respectively to take second and third respectively.
In the ‘C’ Flight ranging from 19-28, Subhan ended the day with 87/64 with Haresh Tewari the runner-up after scoring 86/67. Philbert London copped third with 96/71.
Webster-London pipped Dr. Joaan Deo for the female accolade, scoring 85/70 with Deo managing 87/73.
Chief Executive Officer of the sponsors, Guillermo Escaaraga, finished with 97/76 while the day’s play was notable for Arjun Munaf (82/73), Richard Haniff (82/73), Kassim Khan (89/80), Mike Mangal (89/79), Bridgelall Harry (88/92), Freroz Barkat (90/74) and Deoram Dinnanath (97/83).
