Corentyne duo found not guilty of  Caitanya Kishundyal murder

Two Corentyne men were on Wednesday freed for the 2016 murder of Caitanya Kishundyal, 21, of Lot 28, First Street, Swamp Section, Rose Hall Town, Corentyne. 

At the conclusion of their trial in the High Court in Berbice before Justice Jo Ann Barlow, a mixed jury found Daniel McLennon, of Second Street, Rose Hall Town, Corentyne and Saif Persaud, of Ankerville, Port Mourant, Corentyne, both not guilty of the murder.

The men were charged jointly with the murder in 2017. 

Kishundyal succumbed on February 5, 2016, at the Georgetown Public Hospital Intensive Care Unit, some two days after he had been shot in the abdomen by a gunman who attacked him as he entered his premises, at around 10 pm on February 3, 2016.Kishundyal had been confronted by a man with a firearm, and was shot during the ensuing scuffle.

The duo were represented by Legal Aid attorney, Sasha Roberts, while the prosecution’s case was presented by attorney-at-law, Mandel Moore.
