Originally set for yesterday, the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) has shifted its annual awards ceremony to June 23.
According to President of the BCB, Hilbert Foster, the event’s date was shifted within a 24-hour period and will be hosted at the Port Mourant Community Center and comes at a time when the rainy season has forced cricket to a standstill.
Foster noted that preparations are on stream and will see a number of prizes being distributed.
Among the awards up for grabs are the Player of the Year across every age division from Under-13, U15, U17, U19, U21, female and seniors.
Also on the list of prizes are awards for the most disciplined, most promising, most improved, coach of the year, umpire of the year, as well as second division categories.
The Upper Corentyne Cricket Association will be incorporated into the event.
Among the players that stood out in 2018 are Alex Algoo, Kevlon Anderson, Kevin Sinclair, Kelvin Umroa, Javid Karim, Junior Sinclair in the Guyana Under-19, Anthony Bramble, Veerasammy Permaul, Gudakesh Motie, Devindra Bishoo, Clinton Pestano, Romario Shepherd, Erva Giddings, Tremayne Smartt, Shemaine Campbelle, Shabika Gajnabi, Sheneta Grimmond, Lafona Gilegous, Mariam Samaroo, Ashley Ramnauth, Jonathan Rapersaud, Keith Simpson, Gourav Ramesh, Trevon Stanislaus, Isia Thorne, Rampertab Ramnauth, Shimron Hetmyer and others.
The event will begin from 13.00 hours.
