President of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB), Hilbert Foster has expressed concern over the non-selection of local players in the West Indies A team for the upcoming India A series.
Foster voiced his opinion through the BCB’s official social media account where he said, “The Berbice Cricket Board would like to add its voice against the continuing non-selection of Berbice Cricketers at West Indies level.”
The BCB President mentioned the “poor treatment of Veerasammy Permaul, Gudakesh Motie, Anthony Bramble, Clinton Pestano and Devendra Bishoo,” who were excluded from the West Indies A team and Erva Giddings from the West Indies women’s side and called for the condemnation of those selected.
“Permaul continues to be outstanding with the ball for Guyana finishing as the second highest wicket taker in 2019 [at the Regional Four-Day], Bramble based on his performance at the Regional level is the best performing wicketkeeper/batsman while Pestano was among the top all-rounder in the one-day and four-day tournaments,” he argued.
“Motie, year-after-year continues to perform well in his limited matches for Guyana while Bishoo has taken over 100 test wickets and has been the most successful spinner at the International level for the West Indies over the last decade and Giddings has been the most successful female fast bowler year after year and yet cannot get a recall to the maroon colours,” he continued.
“It is sickening to sit back and observe players with less ability and performance make the squad in front of these players,” he said adding “the BCB stands strongly behind our players and we are confident that with God’s richest blessings, they would one day be rewarded.”
