A man was fined $30,000 and ordered to keep the peace, after he admitted yesterday to wounding his common-law wife.
Denzil Wilson pleaded guilty to unlawfully and maliciously wounding his wife, after being charged with the offence at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
He told the court that it was a misunderstanding. He further explained that at the time of the wounding, his wife was pulling his hand and he had a padlock in the other hand and when he turned, the padlock hit her.
Magistrate Faith McGusty ordered Wilson to pay a fine of $30,000 or spend six weeks in prison, and he was admonished to keep the peace between himself and his wife for 24 months, after she told the court that she moved out after the incident and would like to have the matter dismissed.
