Daryl Adams is now the newly-elected president of the Lions Club of Ruimveldt with Debbie-Ann Thompson elected as Club Secretary.
The Lions Club of Ruimveldt has been in existence for more than forty years, and is part of a larger network of the world’s largest service organization, Lions Clubs international. Lions clubs wherever they exist function under the motto, “We Serve” and seek to aid in the upliftment of the less fortunate in society.
According to a Lions Club of Ruimveldt release, the organisation on Saturday, held its Installation Ceremony and Dinner meeting at their den in Festival city, North Ruimveldt which saw the installation of a new board of directors who will oversee the management of the club for the new fiscal year which begins on July 1. Adams, who is an anaesthetitist by profession was elected to serve as the club’s President, with Thompson filling the crucial role of Club Secretary.
During his acceptance speech, Lion Adams indicated that the motto for the year will be “Progress through shared vision, commitment and active participation” with emphasis being placed on more meaningful community projects, and recruiting younger members to ensure the viability of the club in the years to come.
In addition to the Lions installation ceremony, the Leo Club of Ruimveldt, a sponsored youth project of the Lions Club, also held its installation ceremony which saw budding medical technologist Shamar Khan taking the helm of leadership once again, as well as the addition of a new member to the Leo family, the release added.
